Christian Bale says he is open for another Batman after 'Rises'
by Win Kang, January 23rd, 2011 8:36 am PT
Director Christopher Nolan has mentioned that the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises will be his last Batman film, but according to an interview with Empire Magazine, Christian Bale has said he is not opposed to returning as the caped crusader, that is, if Nolan decides to change his mind.
"All I know is the likelihood that this will be the last one," he said. "Well, I wouldn't say definitely. If Chris goes, 'Hey, I've got another story I think could be interesting,' then yeah, great, I'd go do that. I always assumed it would be three, but I could be wrong. I don't know if there's something wrong with me, but I don't feel any pressure."
For the upcoming film, it has been officially stated that Anne Hathaway will play Catwoman and Tom Hardy will play Bane, the villain responsible for breaking Batman's back in the comics. Bale has said, "[Tom Hardy] seems like he's balls-out, doesn't he? Like he really goes for it.He looked like a guy that was happy to go to extremes, to really push it. Looks like he could go the distance..."
This sounds strangely like the description many gave of Heath Ledger when he played the Joker.
Given how the recent Batman films have adapted the title of Dark Knight, one can't help but be reminded of a famous graphic novel by Frank Miller...

Movie Review: ‘Tron Legacy’ may be more style than substance, but that’s okay.
by Win Kang, December 24th, 2010 3:29 am PT
In Tron Legacy, the long-awaited sequel to Tron (1982), Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the son of the famous hacker, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), finds himself teleported into the computer world, the Grid, like his father had 20 years ago. There, he reunites with his father and they attempt to find a way back home. Meanwhile, Clu, Kevin’s program (who looks just like Kevin), who rules the Grid, tries to stop them.
I grew up in the 80’s and I remember watching a video tape of Tron on Sony Betamax. This was back when E.T. and Raiders of the Lost Ark was still fresh in my mind...

Movie Review: Visually flawless ‘Tangled’ gets nearly everything right.
by Win Kang, December 17th, 2010 1:25 am PT
Finally Disney nearly gets everything right. Almost. Visually, this film is right up there with Pixar’s work…actually, it even manages to surpass in that arena. This is saying A LOT. Still, the real strength of Pixar’s work is how each of their films all work as a whole package, hanging on the strength of its storytelling, characterization, and high concept. It is in these last three points that Disney’s Tangled comes very close but not quite reach...
